More e-infrastructure resources has been made available to the Norwegian Institute of Public Health for Covid-19 related research.

Earlier this year, 1400 cores on Saga and 1536 cores on Fram were reserved by the Norwegian Institute of Public Health for Covid-19-related research.

The Norwegian Institute of Public Health (FHI) recently requested Sigma2 to double their Covid-19 reservations on both Saga (from 1400 to 2800 cores) and Fram (from 1536 to 3072 cores), with the implementation to take place as soon as possible and remain in effect until at least the end of this year. Consequently, Sigma2 has expanded the reservations for both Saga and Fram accordingly.

Consequences for other user

This implies that there will be a reduction in the number of nodes available for regular jobs, potentially leading to longer queue times for other users. Nevertheless, this queue congestion could be mitigated to some extent by the upcoming commencement of production on Betzy, along with the decreased node restrictions for "standard jobs" on Fram. As a result, certain major users on Fram will transition to Betzy, and the decreased node restrictions on Fram will facilitate the migration of some Saga users to the Fram platform.
