The collaboration between Sigma2 and the four universities NTNU and the Universities of Bergen, Oslo and Tromsø – the so-called Metacenter – is now changing its name.
The new name is NRIS, an abbreviation for Norwegian research infrastructure services.
The collaboration includes employees in Sigma2 and employees in the IT departments of the BOTT universities. The background for the name change is related to a broader identity work based on the desire to appear more clearly as a joint service provider to our users.
—We believe that the new name will help emphasize the collaboration's new vision, "We enhance excellent research for a better world". Our goal is to make it easier for those around us to understand the purpose and mission of the collaboration—a collaboration of five organizations pooling competencies, resources, and services," says Gunnar Bøe, Managing Director of Sigma2
This does not affect our offer and services in any way, and existing points of contact will remain the same for now. We will provide information about any changes in e-mail addresses and URLs during the autumn.
About NRIS
NRIS consists of highly qualified IT staff at the four collaborating universities (UiB, UiO, NTNU and UiT) and employees at Sigma2. The purpose is a geographically distributed competence network that ensures that researchers who use the national e-infrastructure both have quick and easy access to domain-specific support close to the user.
