We are happy to announce significant updates to our storage services to better accommodate the needs of our users.
Instead of having one joint storage service (NIRD Data Storage) we now offer two distinct services: NIRD Data Peak and NIRD Data Lake. This is also reflected in our updated contribution model valid from 1 October 2024

NIRD Data Peak: Elevating Science with High-Performance Data Analytics
NIRD Data Peak is a high-performance storage service specifically tailored for active data use in data-intensive workloads and scientific investigations. It accelerates data-driven discoveries by providing a cost-effective platform optimised for pre/post-processing and intensive I/O operations. With its underlying technology designed for high performance, NIRD Data Peak supports HPC and accommodates AI workloads.
NIRD Data Peak supports multitenancy and offers file storage which can be scaled on demand up to petabyte-volume sizes. Datasets stored on NIRD Data Peak can be accessed simultaneously from a terminal and over network file-share (NFS).

NIRD Data Lake: Harnessing Today’s Data for Tomorrow's Discoveries
NIRD Data Lake is a cloud-compatible storage service designed for sharing and storing data during and beyond a project’s lifetime. It offers unified file and object storage, balancing performance, functionalities, and cost.
This service is specifically designed for storing large amounts of both structured and unstructured data, especially suited for less active datasets (cold data). With NIRD Data Lake, you can store your data for longer periods, share selected datasets with co-workers and external collaborators, and consume the data with the services of your choice.
