We are excited to announce that Olivia, our latest high-performance computing system, is being assembled at Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin.
This location is renowned for its cutting-edge research and development centre focused on (HPC). Once the fabrication of Olivia is complete, it will be shipped to Norway.
Our Preparations for Operation Working Group (POWG) is collaborating closely with HPE to finalise the acceptance testing plans for Olivia. The testing process is divided into three phases:
- Internal factory acceptance testing
- Factory acceptance testing
- Site acceptance testing
The first two phases are expected to be completed by the end of February 2025. The final phase will take place once the system is installed at Lefdal Mine Data Centers during the spring of 2025.
Our NRIS experts will attend several training sessions facilitated by HPE and NVIDIA. These sessions are designed to prepare system administrators for configuring Olivia and to equip user support staff with the skills needed to address any issues.
The NRIS training team will organise a "A Sneak Peak into Olivia’s Best Practices guide" webinar on 24 April 2025. This webinar aims to provide an exclusive preview of highlighted key features, offer valuable tips, and give a taste of what to expect.
We will continuously provide more details about further training opportunities for researchers and users.
